So why Kiss Kiss Bang Bang
We want to bring Deathrock/Horror Punk/Batcave/Goth back from the dead (excuse the pun)
So what is Deathrock?? and why does DJ Poison Dwarf keep on about it??
Deathrock was started as I am sure some of you have heard the term and only thought of Christian Death (with Rozz Williams) 45 Grave as Deathrock. But there are so many other bands out there that represent this scene. It seemed at one point when Rozz died that Deathrock was well and dead (excuse the pun) but in the UK there has been a huge resurgence in the Deathrock scene. This is purely due to the drive and determination of Cavey Nik. Cavey Nik started a club up in the UK called Dead and Buried. They have recently had their 2nd b/day and from what I understand it was jam-packed.
So what is Deathrock?
UK perspective? Mmmmmm...... well, I guess it's like asking "What is Goth?" "What is Deathrock?" Different things to different people. Personally I would say it's dark, theatrical, goth/punk/rock n roll inspired music that has *energy* and enthusiasm! [No more mopey, long-faced, frilly shirt wearing, formulaic, droning old Goth bands please!] Also it's a reaction against EBM/electro-goth-by-numbers/"darkwave" acts that seem to be getting duller and more formulaic by the year! ....in my opinion"
Cavey Nik (Dead and Buried, UK)
William Faith from Faith and the Muse states this about Deathrock 'It grew out of the punk scene, and this particular mutation was L.A.'s own unique offering'.
But I Martin Old Goth's response I think it is the best (Martin runs a club in the UK called Insanitorium) "Just seems like a return to basics to me, as if the bleep invasion caused us to re-examine our roots in order to reclaim the name of Goth... what it gets called is irrelevant to me, it's Goth... always has been."
Why is DJ Poison Dwarf keep on about Deathrock??Well the arrogant answer is....I CAN. But the better answer is that the Deathrock tunes coming-out of Europe at the moment are so phuking good I think people need to hear them. All I am doing is promoting a good thing. In saying that there is some very good new and old acts from the States as well and we will be playing these at Kiss Kiss Bang Bang.
So what Does Kiss Kiss Bang Bang plan for opening night???
Well opening night will be a blast and yes we will be doing all we can to make the venue look good. But I will not be giving any secrets except this

Opening night has been organised. We have a venue sorted as well as a great list of DJ's. Details will be released in due course.
